Alex Coronado was born August 23, 1999. He started racing the first weekend after his fifth birthday, in the stock appearing class, in QRCs at Chowchilla Barn Burner. Shortly after, at the age of six, he moved up to the open class at Hillsferry Raceway where he was able to win serval races. In 2008 Alex moved into the Jr. Sprint class at Delta Speedway in Stockton. During his first year in the Jr. Sprint class he finished as rookie of the year and took second in the pointâ€™s series. In 2009, Alex won the Turkey Bowl at Delta Speedway in the Jr. Sprint class and went on to finish eighth in the Jr. Sprint class at the Tulsa Shootout in Oklahoma. He spent the next two years racing Friday nights at Visalia and Saturday nights at Lemoore. In 2011, Alex got his Pace Chassis mirco sprint and spent the whole year racing in Lemoore where he was able to claim tenth in their pointâ€™s series as well as finishing rookie of the year in the restricted class. When Alex wasnâ€™t racing in Lemoore he raced at Delta Speedway where he won five out of the six races. Alex then traveled back to Oklahoma for the Tulsa Shootout in 2011 where he picked up a win in his heat race and Qualifier as well as finishing eighth in the main. The next year he moved up to the non-wing class at Lemoore where he finished third in their points series. In 2013, at the age of thirteen, Alex raced at Delta Speedway and won seven main events leading to his victory in their pointâ€™s series. In 2014 Alex took the year off while his dad, Filbert, built him a sprint car. Come the 2015 season, Filbert had completed the sprint car, and Alex began his first season in the new car racing at Petaluma Raceway. He is currently running his sprint car and Lance Tomlinsonâ€™s Max Muscle of San Jose non-wing mirco sprint. His next big race will be at Delta Speedwayâ€™s Turkey Bowl October 23-24th.
